Impressive showing for Laurels at Gymnix International
by Randy Pascal

Seven members of the Sudbury Laurels women's artistic crew enjoyed a solid warm-up to their provincial championships, competing in Montreal at the Gymnix International earlier this spring.

With athletes from all over the world in attendance (USA, Jamaica, France, Japan, Italy, to name a few), the local contingent proved to be highly competitive, earning several accolades from head coach Terra Davidson.

Some of the highlights included:

Madysen Mulligan (Level 6 Age 13) - Gold on beam, floor and all-around aggregate (Mulligan was presented with a Gymnix International suit for winning her category)

Charlotte Eberlein (Level 6 Age 14) - Gold on vault and bronze all-around

Abby Dupuis (Level 6 Age 14) - Bronze on floor and 8th all-around

Chanelle Lazure (Level 6 Age 14) - 4th on floor and 7th all-around

Brooklyn Basso (Level 6 Age 12) - Bronze on beam and 6th all-around

Renée Blais (Level 7 Age 16) - 6th on floor

Kayla Folz (Level 10 age 16+) - 4th on bars and vault and 6th all-around

Adding to the excitement at the GymZone is the fact that no less than 12 of the 15 athletes eligible to advance to the All-Ontario Meet managed to work their way through the qualifiers, once of the largest convoys of local representation the Laurels have sent in recent years.
