The bats were booming for the Sudbury U13 Shamrocks in Mississauga last month - just not quite enough to keep up with the Milton Mets.
Mets' pitching held the Shamrocks in check in the opening game, a 7-3 loss, before the northern crew started to hit their stride against the host Mississauga Majors.
A back and forth affair featured a key offensive contribution on the Sudbury side from Braydon Chevrette, who doubled and scored to tie the game early and singled in the third, driving in a run and pulling the Shamrocks even.
Starting pitcher Lucas Moulaison was doing double duty in the 9-5 win, earning the victory on the mound while also smashing a two-run double in the fourth that gave the Shamrocks the lead, once and for all.
The Shamrocks maintained their winning ways with an 11-4 triumph over the North York Cardinals in game three as leadoff hitter Melody Lavergne sparked the offense with a pair of hits in two at-bats.
Sudbury got on the board early and often thanks to base hits from the likes of Nathan Serafini, Amex Lamoureux and Leif Kerestezi, all of whom came around to score as Serafini earned the win on the mound, striking out six and walking just three.
Pitted against the Mets for a second time in the Sunday semi-final, the U13 Shamrocks started the game quickly but were unable to tame the Milton attack as Sudbury was eliminated following a 10-6 setback.
Amex Lamoureux punched out a pair of hits, driving in a couple of runs while teammates Lucas Moulaison, Braydon Chevrette and pitcher Oscar Liang joined him in the multi-hit category.
Rounding out the Sudbury U13 Shamrocks roster are Caleb Ramnath, Dallas Marunchak, Jaxon Woloshyn, Kaiden Bergeron, Keaton Borne and coaches Mike Serafini (HC), David Ramnath (AC) and Steve Lamoureux (AC).
