DeGrazia and Serre among CJHL finalists
2020-04-18

The NOJHL (Northern Ontario Junior "A" Hockey League) season might be over, but the accolades keep flowing in.

Rayside-Balfour Canadians' forward and Sudbury Wolves' prospect Nick DeGrazia is among the five finalists for the CJHL Top Rookie Award for the 2019-2020 campaign.

A first round selection of the Wolves in the 2019 U18 draft, DeGrazia netted 32 goals in just 42 games, finishing in a tie for most points for an NOJHL freshman this year with 61.

The Thunder Bay native enjoyed 17 multi-point games with the Canadians, and put together a 13-game points streak as Rayside climbed to the top of the NOJHL West Division standings.

DeGrazia was also a member of the Team Canada East team that emerged with silver medals at the World Junior "A" Challenge hosted in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Joining DeGrazia in the list of rookie finalists are Matteo Constantini (Buffalo Jr Sabres), Tristan Lemyre (Slin Flon Bombers), Devon Levi (Carleton Place Canadians) and Carter Loney (Steinbach Pistons).

Still with CJHL announcements last week, Blind River Beavers' captain and Laurentian Voyageurs' recruit Caleb Serre remains in the running for the CJHL Top Forward honours.

The league-leading scorer enjoyed another phenomenal year, recording 47 goals and 66 assists (113 points), bumping his career total to an astounding 269 points during his time in Blind River.

Serre was named as the NOJHL Player of the Month on four separate occasions this year, while also being recognized as one of the CJHL Three Stars of the Month in November of 2019.

He will be battling out for national recognition with remaining finalists Brodie MacArthur (Summer Western Capitals), Harrison Israels (Oakville Blades), Carter Savoie (Sherwood Park Crusaders) and Kent Johnson (Trail Smoke Eaters).
