Taking a page from the Sudbury Five playbook, the Sudbury U12 Jam boys were all in, offensively speaking, competing at provincials earlier this month is London.

Ranked seventh in a field of eight teams competing in Division 8, the Jam kicked things off on a winning note, stopping the Scarborough Blues 62-57. It was game two, however, which featured a franatic scoring pace seldom seen in this age bracket.

The Sudbury lads were on the wrong side of an 86-81 scoreboard against the IEM Spartans in a contest that featured almost three baskets a minute. "We played some of the best ball this morning that we've ever played, but gave up way too many offensive rebounds," noted coach Anthony Church.

"Both games have been incredible back and forth battles." With games running late and the youngsters still on the court just minutes shy of 11:00 p.m., the Jam were bounced 48-40 by the Brockville Blazers, setting up a match-up to determine fifth and seventh place.

In the end, the locals evened their mark at 2-2 thanks to a 41-36 triumph over the Gators Basketball Academy. "It was a tough battle this morning as we were clearly exhausted," noted Church. "I had to take our press off for the first time because the boys were getting so tired."

The team in question is comprised of Keelan Donnelly, Joel Ankomah, Alex Mailloux, William Church, Josh Crandall, Brayden Legendre, Shiloh Sauve, Hunter Laplante, Sebastien Montgomery, Nathan Borieo and Greyson Seifert.
