Braves are the best in the end
2017-03-25

The Copper Cliff Peewee Braves saved their best for last.

Competing at the Lincoln Blades 21st Annual Local League Tourney last weekend, the Braves squeezed into the semi-finals from a division of ten teams with a record of 2-1, including a very close win in game three.

Once in the playoff round, however, the Copper Cliff crew were golden, edging the Delhi Rockets 3-2, before putting forth their top performance of the competition, blasting the Grimsby Hawks 8-2 in the final.

The Braves' goal differential was well established in the opener, as the locals lit up the Newcastle Stars 11-3, but were back to .500 following a 4-2 loss to Grimsby in game two. Needing a win to even have a chance, the locals tamed the Wainfleet Wild 6-5, earning a berth in the final four.

Copper Cliff forward Liam Conlin was named Tournament MVP, joined by teammates Michael Staffen, Finnegan Munro, Caleb Boissoneau, Adam Pagan, Carter Sagle, Brady Beaulieu, Kaija Mills, Bryston John, Paul Petitclerc, James Wiseman, Brandon Dempsey, Ethan Katerynuk, Bryden McGhee, Mathew Lavoie, Jeremi Pelletier, and coaches Sean Dempsey, Sylvain Petitclerc, Ron Katerynuk and Jay Mills in celebrating their championship.
