Panhellenic earns their first two wins on the road
2013-06-29

The Sudbury Panhellenic U-21 ladies evened their record at 2-2, picking up back to back wins on the road last weekend over the Royal York Lady Cougars. The locals blanked the Cougars 3-0 and 1-0, moving from the basement into a tie for 7th place in the ten-team league.

Competing in the Ontario Women's Soccer League (OWSL), Panhellenic forms part of the South Region (South) division, playing an 18-game schedule that will extend right through to the final weekend of August.

Sudbury received goals from Shiayanne Paquette, Laura Ozoria and Kiersten Briscoe in notching their first victory of the summer of 2013 last Saturday, completing the sweep the next day as Meghan Gilpin accounted for the game's only goal.

Panhellenic opened their season earlier this month, losing to both Feds United (3-0) and Hamilton Sparta (6-2), with Emma Persi and Layla Pinter finding the back of the net for head coach Joe Persi.

The locals are back at home next weekend, facing the West Lincoln Wolverines for a pair of games, before heading out for six straight on the road. Sudbury and West Lincoln will do battle on Saturday (July 6th) at the James Jerome Sports Complex at 2:00 p.m., taking to the pitch with the same opponent the next morning at 11:00 a.m., still at the same venue.
