Perhaps the stabilizing presence of an experienced netminder was the answer to the early season woes of the Sudbury Wolves after all.

Rebounding from a tough 4-3 home ice loss to the Mississauga St Michael's Majors on Friday night, the local juniors reeled off back to back wins, on the road, over the Oshawa Generals and Owen Sound Attack.

The defeat on the kickoff to the three-game set was a particularly tough pill to swallow as the Wolves held a 3-2 lead heading to the third period only to surrender both a power play and short handed marker to Joseph Cramarossa and settling for a one goal loss.

Kristoff Kontos sparked the Sudbury attack with a two-goal effort, with Andrey Kuchin opening the scoring with a pretty wrap-around goal less than five minutes in.

But the Wolves bounced back from the setback the next night in Oshawa as Josh Leivo recorded the hat-trick, leading the visitors past the Generals 5-2.

Frank Corrado and Mathew Campagna rounded out the scoring for Sudbury while Lucas Lessio and replied in a losing cause for Oshawa.

With Swedish goaltender Johan Mattsson making his sixth consecutive start, the Wolves survived a Sunday afternoon finale, taking the Owen Sound Attack to overtime before walking away with a 2-1 shootout win.

This contest was scoreless until midway through the final frame when Michael Sgarbossa put the Wolves on the board, with Mike Halmo answering just five minutes later, sending the match to period number four.

Nothing was solved in the five minute four on four session, setting the stage for a shootout, with Campagna converting on the first Sudbury chance while Mattsson allowed only one of three Owen Sound shooters to strike paydirt.

For the second time in three weeks, Sgarbossa saved the day in the penalty shot session, improving the Sudbury record in shootouts to 2-0 with his second game winning goal.

Creeping their way back into the mid-level Eastern Conference standings, the Wolves boast a record of 5-5-1-0, good for 11 points and a three way tie for 7th place with the Niagara Ice Dogs and .

Unfortunately, the injury situation for coach Trent Cull and company only worsened over the weekend. Already without the services of overage defenseman Josh McFadden due to a pre-practice injury last week, the Wolves roster was further depleted when Samuel Schutt went down late in the game on Friday, with defenseman Ryan Hanes following suit Saturday in Oshawa.

Sudbury now must prepare for another three in three weekend, hosting the Guelph Storm Friday night at Sudbury Arena, travelling to St Catherines to face Niagara on Saturday and closing out with a stop Sunday in Brampton, battling the Battalion.
