The Sudbury Playground Hockey League (SPHL) is inviting families to participate in the first annual SPHL “Donate Blood for Life” campaign. All you have to do is donate blood between July 14th – 31st to receive $10.00 off your child’s hockey registration fee for the 2008-2009 season. Simply indicate that you are part of the SPHL group and you will be given a card noting your blood donation date.

To meet Canada’s future blood needs, Canadian Blood Services must encourage more Canadians to join the movement, share their vitality and become regular donors. Approximately 90,000 new donors must be recruited every year to keep up with growing demand for blood and blood products.

On average, every minute of every day someone in Canada requires blood or blood components. Families wishing to participate in the SPHL Donate Blood For Life will be helping to ensure an adequate blood supply is available for those in need over the summer months. Donations usually decrease over long weekends and the summer months because people are away or busy with family activities. Meanwhile the demand for blood is constant.
