A pair of 1-0 games in the Girls U-18 division highlighted the opening weekend of the Sudburnia Soccer Club playoffs as the James Jerome Complex was kept hopping. A second half goal courtesy of Emma Paxton lifted Nexcap Finance Corp. to a 1-0 win over wendy's in the championship encounter as Nexcap atoned for a 3-2 loss in round robin action.
The Bronze medal consolation contest would see Gillian Scott net the game's only goal as Integrated Benefit Services blanked National Car Rental 1-0 as well. The game proved to be much closer than the preliminary matchup when IBS thumped National Car Rental 6-0.
In the U-18 Mixed division, Antonio Radford-Paz was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring five times as Team Puma clubbed Tracks and Wheels 6-2 in the Gold medal encounter. Daniel Dussiaume fired the remaining Puma goal while Matthieu Dugas-Ruest handled all of the scoring for Tracks & Wheels, picking up a pair of markers.
Another high scoring affair in the Bronze medal game as Mathieu Lecours recorded the hat trick and Phillip Taus chipped in with two more goals leading Sudbury Kartways to a 6-1 victory over Foot Solutions. More well-known for his goaltending abilities, Dale Pidutti rounded out the scoring for Kartways while Michael Pigozzo answered in a losing cause for Foot Solutions.
The Sudburnia Soccer season will conclude on Sunday, August 19th as the remaining four full-field divisions complete their playoff schedules. Action in both the U-12 and U-14 Mixed and Girls divisions wrap up with championship games slated for Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the James Jerome Complex.
