Manitoulin Island blueliner and two-year veteran of the Ottawa 67's Kohyn Eshkawkogan has committed Penn State Nittany Lions beginning in 2027-2028.

Eshkawkogan is coming off an outstanding season with the 67's, having recorded 53 points in 68 games and with international experience at both the World U-17 Hockey Challenge as well as the U-18 World Championships.

A member of the Manitoulin Panthers, Copper Cliff Redmen and Nickel City Sons during his years of minor hockey in the north, the 5'11" smooth-skating d-man settled on "Happy Valley" from a handful of the premier NCAA programs in the nation.

"From my first conversations with the coaching staff, I felt how strongly they believed in me both as a player and a person," said Eshkawkogan in a release issued on Saturday.

"This commitment motivates me to keep getting better every day. My work is far from finished."

A proud member of the M'Chigeeng First Nation, Eshkawkogan also carries strong Anishinaabe and Cree family connections, having competed at multiple indigenous tournaments over the years.

Preparing for the 2027 NHL Entry Draft next summer, Eshkawkogan will return to the Ottawa 67's for the 2026-2027 campaign, continuing his development in the OHL.
