Jr Spartans complete the sweep in North Bay the easy way last Saturday
2026-06-17

The Sudbury U16 Jr Spartans have put themselves in a position to create quite the logjam atop the OSFL (Ontario Summer Football League) U16 AA East Division standings.

Thanks to a 40-0 whitewashing of the North Bay Bulldogs on the road last weekend, the Jr Spartans improved to 3-1-0, preparing for a critical trip south this weekend, taking on the unbeaten Toronto Jr Argos (4-0-0).

A Sudbury win would mean that both the Spartans and Argos would join the York Lions with a mark of 4-1-0, with the Sault Sabercats right on their heels at 3-0-1 and with a chance to leapfrog the entire trio with a victory on Saturday at home against the Scarborough Thunder.

Moshood Adeleye showed that he can get it done a few different ways, rushing for a 26 yard touchdown and hauling in a 58 yard pass from QB Kade Campbell to account for a pair of Sudbury scores.

Campbell ran it in once from the one yard line and also connected with both Dean Vildis (5 yard pass) and Brendan Goffin (18 yard pass), with Michael Bisschops bolting nearly the entire length of the field to register a 95 yard run to paydirt.

Byron Marshall recorded a pair of interceptions as the Sudbury defense was relentless in holding the Bulldogs off the board. The U19 game never took place as North Bay forfeited the affair due to low numbers, allowing the elder Spartans to also bump their season mark to 3-1-0.

Like their junior counterparts, the Sudbury varsity side also faces the Toronto Jr Argos on Saturday, with both teams in Belleville to face the Quinte Skyhawks one week later.
