Much as was the case with Joe Drago before him, Capreol native Rob Mazzuca is forging a very impressive legacy at the top-end of the hockey administrative pyramid in Canada.
This past Sunday, the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) unveiled their Executive Committee for the 2026-27 season, with Mazzuca acclaimed for a one-year term as Chair of the Board.
Mazzuca has served as CJHL Chair since 2021 and is set to commence his 16th campaign guiding the NOJHL.
"It continues to be an honour and privilege to operate in my role as the Chair of the Board for the CJHL," stated Mazzuca in a media release distributed earlier this week. "My colleagues and I, along with our partners at Hockey Canada, remain focused on the betterment of Junior A hockey across the country, in all facets of the game," he added.
The announcement was made following the completion of the CJHL Annual General Meeting in Summerside (P.E.I.), the latter taking place just after the Centennial Cup was awarded to the Niverville Nighthawks, 4-1 winners in the gold medal game versus the host Summerside Western Capitals.
Rejoining Mazzuca on the CJHL executive are vice-chairs Ryan Bartoshyk (West) and Kevin Figsby (East), both back on one-year terms. Bartoshyk is the commissioner of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) while Figsby is the commissioner of the Ligue de Hockey Junior AAA du Quebec (LHJAAAQ).
Meanwhile, Andy Harkness returns in his role as CJHL President.
The Greater Sudbury Cubs represented the NOJHL at the Centennial Cup for a third straight year but failed to advance beyond pool play after posting a disappointing record of 1-3-0.
