The Sudbury Cyclones OPL3 men's crew have proven that they can steer clear of trouble on the road.
The next few weeks will see if they can maintain their success at home as oach Brian Ashton and company carry a 2-0-0 early season mark into a pair of upcoming encounters at the James Jerome Sports Complex (May 9th) and Cambrian College (May 17th).
In their season opener at the end of April, the Cyclones snapped a 1-1 tie in the 86th minute when Sam Howard hit the mark, lifting the locals to a 2-1 win over the Simcoe County Rovers.
Josiah Stone broke the ice early for the visitors while Lucas Cidade recorded the victory in net for Sudbury.
The Sudbury offense was looking even more impressive one week later as Maliq Olanrewaju netted a pair of tallies before the contest was 17 minutes old and Arvin Niyorah Alcid added a pair of insurance markers, one in the second half as the Cyclones bounced North Mississauga SC 4-1.
"I love our passion," noted Alcid, a 19 year-old native of Oshawa who is just completing his first year of post-secondary studies at Cambrian College and having suited up with the Shield last fall.
"We're so happy to be together, playing games. It's good to watch."
The early season emotions might have to carry the Cyclones for the moment, as the team struggled to find suitable practice time and place following the collapse of the Lancer Dome in March.
"Honestly, we were working on just working as a team," said Alcid. "The more we play as a team, the better we're going to play. Our chemistry has been really high, during the bus rides, the team get togethers."
"The thing we have over other teams is chemistry, for sure."
The Cyclones will face Sigma FC (1-1-0) this coming Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at James Jerome and then will have a rematch with the Simcoe County Rovers (0-3-0) on (Sunday) May 17th at the Cambrian College field.
The Sudbury Cyclones OPL3 roster also includes Matthew Bodnar, Nate Cadieux, Samuel Ekichi, Roy Solarin, Alameen Salami, Xavi Pimbu, Linden Devries, Braxton Ragogna, Carter Grenier, Junior Ouffoue and Diego Valle.
