The SDSSAA Senior Boys All-Star Basketball Game is very quickly becoming a must-watch event for fans of the hardcourt in Sudbury and area.
Just two years after a cross-section of local high-school talent treated fans to a double overtime classic at the Sudbury Arena, the 2026 lads came pretty darn close to extending this year's match-up to a fifth period as well.
When the final buzzer sounded, Team Light held on for a 95-93 victory over Team Dark in a contest that see-sawed pretty much from start to finish.
Kicking things off with a balanced attack that saw Will Church, Maks Beljo, Adil Othman and Keegan Adair all hitting for multiple baskets, with Church, Beljo and Noah Skrobot hitting from range, Light jumped ahead 27-24 after one quarter of play.
Cade Kirwan (9 pts) and Lunden Campbell-Runia (5) helped keep things close for the Dark side, with both Ayden Courtemanche and Brody Lauziere finding their range from distance.
Team Light added to their lead in the second stanza as Kiran Adams added another seven points to a first quarter basket, with Keegan Adair bumping his game total up to 11, propelling their team to a 49-42 advantage at the break.
Counter-strikes from Ayden Courtemanche (5), Tristan Imgrund (4) and Lunden Campbell-Runia (3) helped to ensure that the contest remained within reach as the teams reconvened for the second half.
An outstanding third quarter effort defensively and more offense from the likes of Tristan Imgrund (8), Mika Giroux (4) and Cade Kirwan (4) allowed Dark to outscored Light 23-17 in Q3, leaving the scoreboard reading 66-65 as the stretch run began.
Three-pointers from Henrik Lapointe (6 pts) and Ben Turner (3) allowed Team Light to take the slimmest of margins into the final eight minutes of play.
For as much as the ball was widely distributed through three quarters of play, such was not the case in the fourth quarter as each team went to their hot hands. When the dust settled, a 22-point outburst from Noah Skrobot was just enough to hold off the hard charging Dark brigade led by Tristan Imgrund (15 pts in Q4), with Campbell-Runia adding another six.

A special shoutout is extended to Bishop Alexander Carter senior Tristan Imgrund who has committed to the Hilbert College Hawks (NCAA Division III) in Hamburg (New York).
Members of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, the Hawks will welcome the 6'1" guard to the fold as Imgrund pursues his studies towards a Bachelor of Science in Intelligence & Data Analysis, having received the school's top academic scholarship.
"The program's focus on artificial intelligence and data analysis was a big reason I chose the school, all while staying relatively close to home," said Imgrund. In addition to suiting up with the Bishop Carter Gators, Imgrund has fine-tuned his basketball skills in recent years with both Red Rush and Hoopzone in Toronto.
