Lo-Ellen Park Knights boys basketball run comes to an end
2026-03-17

A senior laden Lo-Ellen Park Knights boys basketball team suffered a heart-breaking quarter-final loss, ending their quest for hardware last week in Pembroke at the OFSAA “AA” Boys Basketball Championships.

Following wins over the Holy Cross Hurricanes from Peterborough (73-46) and the Ascension of our Lord Eagles from Malton (96-65), the two-time defending SDSSAA gold medal winners could not keep pace with the Nottawasage Pines Timberwolves, trailing 56-52 entering the fourth quarter of play and ultimately defeated by a final score of 73-67.

The 2026-2027 Knights will unveil a very different roster following the graduation of the grade 13 quintet of Quin Mazzuchin, Will Church, Hunter LaPlante, Brayden Legendre and Keelan Donnelly.

Still with boys basketball, the Espanola Spartans were eliminated in the consolation quarter-finals at the “A” playdowns while the Lasalle Lancers were felled in two straight at the “AAA” event in London.
