It might not seem like it at the moment, but before you know it, the summer football season will be upon us.
A sure sign that the season is not all that far off comes in the form of impending tryouts for both the U16 and U18 Sudbury Spartans teams that will be competing, once again, in the OSFL (Ontario Summer Football League).
Having just recently named Shane Hutchison as head coach, the U18 crew will kick things off on (Friday) February 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Lancer Dome.
The first session for the U16 lads comes one week later, February 13th, will all other details (time and venue) remaining the same.
Two other tryout workouts will ensue, with a total cost $89 required to cover the fees for all three practices as well as the early pre-season practices for those who crack their respective rosters.
To register, simply logon to the team website at www.SudburySpartans.com, locate the proper age group and follow the link. On-line registrations will be accepted up until the day before the tryouts begin in your age group.
While coach Hutchinson steps in to take over the reins handed to him by Alex Vendramin, the U16 staff will remain relatively stable, returning Dan Yoisten as the man in charge.
"Last year was a very successful season for the U-16 program, making it all the way to the Divisional Championship game before bowing out," said Yoisten. "Our staff is excited to get started and looking forward to another successful season."
