The Lively Hawks packaged themselves a lovely little Christmas present last week, capturing the "C" Division crown at the Holiday Classic High-School Tournament hosted at Canlan Ice Sports at York University.

Nailbiters were the order of the day as this event moved towards the championship encounters. Trailing 3-2 with less than a minute to play in the semi-finals, the Hawks drew even when Cameron MacIntosh netted his second goal of the game, forcing overtime.

Josh Ruppel provided the OT heroics, hitting the mark for the game-winning tally as Lively trimmed Trinity College School 4-3, with Bryan Halonen opening the scoring for the Hawks.

Facing the St Kateri Tekawitha Thunder from Milton in the final, the Hawks again jumped out to the lead courtesy of a first period strike from Ryan Kirwan. Dean Vildis added a third period tally before Kade Campbell snapped a 2-2 tie, recording the tournament-winning goal.

The balance of the Lively Hawks' roster features Ryder D'Amours, Brayden Gerrior, Alex Campbell, Jackson Bentley, Mason Hampel, Cohen Lachance, Bodhi Villeneuve, Avery Wabano, Evan Maksymchuk, Ryder Villeneuve, Ethan Querney, with Brad Kiviaho serving as head coach, Hugh Campbell, Ian MacDonald and Peter Nykilchuk as assistants and Sean Gray as team manager.

Joining the Hawks in the winners' circle, locally, were the St Benedict Bears, Division "B" champions.
