U15 AAA Wolves test their mettle at Hamilton Steel Classic
2025-12-09

But for a game they would rather forget in their tournament finale, the Sudbury U15 AAA Wolves fared pretty well as the recent 2025 Hamilton Steel Classic, posting a record of 1-2-1.

Currently ranked 37th in the province (courtesy of My Hockey Rankings), the U15 AAA Wolves helped justify that standing in game one, playing to a 2-2 draw with the Don Mills Flyers (ranked 36th).

Jonathan Croome netted both goals for the Sudbury side, who knew they were in tough in game two, facing the host Hamilton Steel (#4). And while they were limited to just one goal in that outing (courtesy of Max Falcioni), the Wolves remained competitive, losing by a final count of 3-1.

No doubt encouraged by that showing, the SMHA reps bounced the Midstate Syracuse Nats 5-1 in game three as André Beaudry, Blake Bubalo, Padraig Courtney, Jonathan Croome and affiliated call-up Jonathan Valade found the back of the net for head coach Vagelli Sakellaris and staff.

A 7-1 loss to the Brantford 99ers (#30) was not the send-off they were looking for as Blake Bubalo sniped the only marker in a losing cause, his team looking to a potentially tougher draw as they do battle at the VK (Vaughan Kings) Classic this coming weekend.

On the docket for Sudbury are the host Vaughan Kings (#1 in Ontario), Peterborough Jr Petes (#7), Elgin Middlesex Canucks (#13) and Detroit Belle Tire.

Joining the U15 AAA Wolves at the VK Classic are both the U13 AAA Wolves as well as the U14 AAA Wolves.

Rounding out the Sudbury roster are goaltenders Max Barros and Brayden Bouillon, defencemen Carson Barr, Linden Bertoli, Sheany Gray, Van Sakellaris, Myles Talbot and Vince Tarini and forwards Ean Dumont, Emmit Deforge, Cameron Swartz and Connor Wainio.

Joining Vagelli Sakellaris on the team staff are assistant coaches Taylor Couillard, Adam Hinds and Evan Purcell, trainers Brad Croome and Sean Gray and team manager Erin Tarini.
