All-star game and awards wrap up the fall flag football season

With the all-star game in the books, it was time to dole out the year-end hardware as SDSSAA (Sudbury District Secondary Schools Athletic Association) wrapped up another fabulous season of flag football.

All four divisions of play would feature anywhere from six to seven different trophy winners, with the breakdown as follows:

Senior - Division "A"
Most Outstanding Player - Izzy Roy (Lasalle)
Most Valuable Player - Maddie Veevers (Lo-Ellen)
Offensive Player of the Year - Tyla MacLeod (Bishop Carter)
Defensive Player of the Year - Addison Gibbs (Bishop Carter)
Quarterback of the Year - Ella O'Shaughnessy (St Benedict)
Kicker of the Year - Abbey Dagostino (Lo-Ellen)

Senior - Division "B"
Most Outstanding Player - Tiia Peura (Lockerby)
Most Valuable Player - Marquise Castonguay (ESMC)
Offensive Player of the Year - Hannah Adler (CND)
Defensive Player of the Year - Gabrielle Foreshew (Champlain)
Quarterback of the Year - Brooke Lanovaz (Lively)
Kicker of the Year - Laila Thompson (Lockerby)

Most Outstanding Player - Edna Fofana (St Benedict)
Most Valuable Player - Ferryn Johnston (Champlain)
Offensive Player of the Year - Leah Johnston (Champlain)
Defensive Player of the Year - Cora Dippong (St Benedict)
Quarterback of the Year - Laila Lalonde (Lively)
Kicker of the Year - Emma-Leigha Scott (St Benedict)
Rookie of the Year - Lilianne Jodouin (Champlain)

As for the all-star game itself, the highlight was most certainly the half-time skill challenges as Bryn Hobson of St Charles (longest punt - 37 yards & longest FG - 35 yards), teammate Joely Angus (50 yard dash - 6.48 seconds), Lasalle standout Izzy Roy (throwing competition - 34 yards) and Lo-Ellen senior Isabella Perry (flagging competition - 7.98 seconds) earned first place finishes.
