The tone was set early this year as the Sudbury Wolves started three different netminders between the pipes to open their first three games of the 2025-2026 OHL season.

Two months in, more questions than answers remain as the local juniors announced today that 2023 5th round selection Bjorn Bronas has signed on with the team, perhaps seeing action as early as tonight.

The 18 year-old puck-stopper was born in Plainfield (Illinois) but holds duel citizenship (USA / Sweden) and was playing with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL to begin this season.

Committed to Minnesota State University for the 2026-2027 campaign, Bronas is a product of the Chicago Mission AAA program, having played there from his 13U year (2020-2021) right through to 16U (2023-2024).

"Bjorn is a goalie currently on the NHL Central Scouting watch list who has been part of the USA Hockey National Goaltending Development Camp (2025)," noted Wolves VP & General Manager Rob Papineau.

With Bronas joining the team, the Wolves bid adieu to Finn Marshall, who ironically was named to the NHL Central Scouting watch list right around this time last year.

Unfortunately, after enjoying a great start to his season, injury woes and a lack of consistency created challenges in the second half of 2024-2025, with the native of Toronto running into some of the same issues once again this year.

"Goaltender Finn Marshall has gone home to pursue his options," noted the Wolves media release.

Today's events leave the team with three netminders as 2025 draft pick Owen Leonard and 19 year-old local product Karsen Chartier (who played 24 games with the Sarnia Sting before being dealt to the Wolves last year and jumping aboard to help the Sudbury Cubs run to the Centennial Cup) remain in the mix.
