A warm-up tournament one age group up certainly did not hurt the chances of the Northern Chill 16U Heat Wave girls as they made their way to Maple (ON) one week later for Provincial Cup – Championship C tournament play.

Well, that and the fact that they were the top seeded teams in the nine-entry event that took place at St Joan of Arc Catholic High-School.

The locals would take care of business in Pool A in the morning, sweeping past both the PVC (Pioneers Volleyball Club) Power from Simcoe County / Innisfil (25-20, 25-22) and the Caspian Rush from Newmarket (25-18, 25-17).

The northern crew then stumbled a little before disposing of the Venom Cobras (3rd in Pool B - from Richmond Hill) in three sets in the quarter-finals (27-25, 17-25, 16-14), righting the ship somewhat versus the Niagara Athletics in the semis (25-17, 16-25, 15-7) and then bringing their “A” game to the final against the Oakville Thunder> (25-23, 27-25) to capture gold.

Just a week earlier, the Heat Wave joined the Northern Chill 17U Black Cyclones in Provincial Cup – Championship D play in Mono (near Orillia), settling for fourth place. They will tackle that challenge of an older age group one more time at the end of November, competing in a 17U Challenge Cup showdown.

The Chill 16U Heat Wave lineup for the 2025-2026 season features Aviahna Cocchiola, Lisa Ngouabe, Kylie Breau, Morgan Gauvreau, Julia Moulaison, Brinley Evans, Naima-Bella Tverdal, Savannah Farinha, Alexie Houle and Macie Barlow.

Returning to the team staff are head coach James Gauvreau, assistant coach Jason Evans and team manager Heather Evans.
