On the pitch for virtually every minute of every game this fall, Laurentian Voyageurs' sophomore defender Olly Sankar was rewarded last week, earning second team East Division all-star status for the 2025 campaign.
In doing so, Sankar, a native of Vaughan currently studying Sports Administration extended a streak that has seen an L.U. male soccer talent earn second team all-star status in four straight years.
He joins a current crop of graduating seniors in that grouping, with midfielder Nico Patenaude (2022) and strikers / attackers Timi Aliu (2023 / 2024) and Jaiden Santos also walking off with similar accolades.
The last Laurentian player to earn first team all-star recognition was none other than Sudbury Cyclones keeper and Ontario League1 Championship Division Goalkeeper of the Year Connor Vande Weghe.
Sankar will return in 2026 to join a core of a team that posted a deceiving record of 2-7-3, earning ties against the likes of the Carleton Ravens (lost in OUA semi-final in PK), the Nipissing Lakers and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
