A massive field of U16 AAA hockey teams took part in the recent Alliance U16 AAA Faceoff Tournament in Komoka, including a pair of entries from the NOHA (Northern Ontario Hockey Association).
Team NOHA - White opened play with a neat and tidy 3-1 win over the Brantford 99ers, with Reed Sauvé, Lennox Therrien and Ty Belanger hitting the mark for the northern crew and Noah Jylha earning the win between the pipes.
Team White improved to 1-0-1 thanks to a 3-3 draw with the Cambridge Jr Redhawks as Ty Belanger was joined on the scoresheet by Bradley Huffman and Reid Martin as Nicolas Rocca tended the twine.
Ty Belanger once again opened the scoring in his team's third encounter though this time around, a handful of teammates followed suit as Team NOHA - White blitzed the Sarnia-Lambton Jr Sting 5-1.
Netting their first goals of the tournament were Alex Proulx, Cole Coulter and Felix Sapay while Reid Martin recorded his second in as many games. Noah Jylha made it back to back wins on a personal level as the goaltender of record for NOHA.
Team White closed off their tournament in style, thumping the Chatham-Kent Cyclones 11-2, with all of the scoring coming in the final two periods of play. Alex Proulx exploded to the tune of a four-goal outing with Ty Belanger drilling home his fourth and fifth markers of the weekend.
Trey Bigelow, Tayden Smith, Cole Coulter, Felix Sapay and Aiden Duchesne capped off the scoring with goaltender Nicolas Rocca the beneficiary of far more offensive support than he needed.
A tougher schedule awaited Team NOHA - Black which suffered setbacks at the hands of the Waterloo Wolves (5-3), Elgin-Middlesex Canucks (5-4), Kitchener Jr Rangers (2-1) and Sun County Panthers (6-2).
Both teams are back in action again in December, heading to Bowmanville to participate in the OMHA Showcase, all in preparation for the 2026 OHL Cup from March 30th to April 4th in Toronto.
