U11 AA Reds needed a pair of close wins to claim Kitchener-Waterloo tournament banner
2025-10-29

In their four game round robin segment at the Kitchener-Waterloo Octoberfest Tournament, the Copper Cliff U11 AA Reds proved they could score with the best of them. Come playoff time, they proved they could defend.

The end result was six straight victories and a championship banner making its way north very early in the year.

The Reds came out guns a blazing right, downing the Woodstock Navy Vets 6-1 on the strength of an ultra balanced attack as Ames Desjardins, Nico Gianfrancesco, Nico Orazi-Dagostino, Max Cecchetto, Malachi Dawson and Cruz McHugh all potted goals for the winners.

Game two was only slightly less productive as Copper Cliff dumped the Guelph Gryphons 5-1 with Cecchetto (2) and Orazi-Dagostino joined on the scoresheet by teammates Easton Gray and Olivia Otto.

Backstopped by a shutout performance from netminder Lincoln Levesque, the Reds silenced to West Mall Lightning 8-0, improving to 3-0-0 as Bo Michelutti and Malachi Dawson enjoyed two goal outings.

Rounding out the scoring were Nico Orazi-Dagostino, Olivia Otto, Ames Desjardins and Easton Gray.

The CCMHA reps capped off their preliminary efforts with a 7-1 triumph over the Mount Brydges Cougars, sparked by a two-goal effort from Max Cecchetto.

Bo Michelutti, Malachi Dawson, Cruz McHugh, Nico Orazi-Dagostino and Ames Desjardins chipped in with one goal each.

Things tightened significantly in the semi-finals as Raleigh Hysen and Bo Michelutti pushed the locals past the London Knights by a final score of 2-1 before Michelutti made in back to back game-winning goals, capping off his hat trick in style as Copper Cliff bested the Kitchener Rangers 5-4, in overtime, in the final.

Easton Gray and Malachi Dawson both hit the mark earlier in the game to help force overtime. Rounding out the Copper Cliff U11AA Reds roster are Hudson Bernier, Reed Paquette, Easton Weiman and Patrick Wing, with the team staff boasting the combined skills of Meghan Otto, Peter Michelutti Jr, Craig Maki, Scott Wing, Dan Paquette and Alex Levesque.
