The Sudbury U15 AA Lady Wolves should have stashed away some goals from game one as they posted a 2-2-1 record recently at the Durham West North American Showcase hosted on Thanksgiving weekend.
The locals opened play against the Ottawa 67's and just kept piling it on, racking up a 7-1 win as Alyssa Bryant and Alexie Miller scored two goals apiece for the Lady Wolves.
Camie Culbert, Emily Bedard and Aleah Restoule rounded out the scoring for the Sudbury squad which then went completely dry in game two, playing to a scoreless draw with the Waterloo Ravens as Ava Wicklander registered the shutout.
A 2-1 loss to the Stoney Creek Sabres still left the northern crew searching for more offense as Aleah Restoule netted the only tally of the contest for head coach Scott Rienguette and his staff.
The U15 girls got back on the winning track, closing out round robin play with a 3-1 win over the Bluewater Hawks as Alyssa Bryant, Brooklyn Harris and Emily Bedard found the back of the net for the winners.
A mark of 2-1-1 was enough to propel the Sudbury squad into a Bronze championship matchup with the Whitby Wolves, the latter blanking the Lady Wolves by a final count of 3-0.
Directly out of tournament play, the Sudbury U15 AA Lady Wolves turned their attention to OWHL (Ontario Women's Hockey League) regular season play, with a total of six home games scheduled for the Nickel City over back to back weekends.
The northern crew earned a split last weekend, dropping a 5-3 decision to the Barrie Sharks as Alexie Miller, Aleah Restoule and Alyssa Bryant all sniped for Sudbury in a losing cause.
In the rematch later that day, the Lady Wolves surged to a 4-0 lead and eventually disposed of the Sharks by a final count of 4-1 as Alyssa Bryant, with a pair, and Reese Morris and Emily Bedard, with one goal apiece, provided ample support for winning netminder Kloe Rienguette.
Sudbury close off that very busy stretch with four games this weekend, two each against the Central York Panthers and the Etobicoke Dolphins.
Rounding out the U15 AA Lady Wolves roster this year are Daviy Dale, Julia D'Angelo, Kayleigh Crew, Brooklyn Mininni, Quinn Houle, Grace Demers, Emma Plante and Zoe Gatien.
Joining head coach Scott Rienguette on staff are assistant coaches Andrew Dale and Chris Morris, trainer Zoe Rienguette and team manager Silvana D'Angelo.
