The Cambrian Shield soccer teams still have a ways to go to make some noise come playoff time in the OCAA (Ontario Colleges Athletic Association).
Both the Cambrian men and women's teams were disposed of in contests that were not particularly close as upsets were not to be in the land of the Gold and Black.
The Humber Hawks' ladies jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the half, added one more goal in the 52nd minute before surrendering a pair of tallies in taking down the Shield women, 6-2 in the GTA last week.
Olivia Di Cesare paced the Humber attack with a pair of goals with single offerings coming courtesy of Micayla Santaguida, Chantel Spalla, Kaylese Callender and Elisa Oliveira, with Delaney Elliott and Molly Watson replying late for the visitors from northern Ontario.
Making the long trip to Windsor, the Cambrian men kept it a little closer a little longer, down 3-0 to the St Clair Saints at the half before the homeside poured it on late, stopping the Shield 7-1 in first round (round of 16) playoff action.
Dawit Solomon completed his hat trick with a pair of strikes in the final ten minutes, joined on the scoresheet for the winning side by teammates Mateo Ventura, Guilherme Silva, Zachary Sobierja and Alessio Mastroinni.
Named to the OCAA East Division First All-Star team, Siah Stone broke the goose-egg for Cambrian while other post-season award recipients locally included Josh Vivero (East Division Second All-Star team) and Arvin Alcid (East Division All-Rookie team).
