Cambrian soccer fill the net versus Fleming
2025-10-08

The Cambrian Shield soccer team padded their offensive stats and gave the fans on hand plenty to cheer for beyond the unseasonably warm weather over the weekend, sweeping a pair of games from the Fleming Lords (Peterborough).

The Cambrian women rode a four-goal performance from Delaney Elliott to a 6-0 whitewashing of the Lords as Olivia Skinkle recorded the shutout. Ainslee Buchan and Molly Watson rounded out the scoring while Brooke Dugas and Lauren Kennedy chipped in with two assists apiece as the Shield bumped their season mark up to 3-6-0, sitting seventh in the 10-team league.

Coach Jason Garforth and company close out preliminary games with a matchup next weekend against the Lakehead University Orillia Thunderwolves, a team that sits just a point ahead of them in the standings and the same opponent that edged the Shield 1-0 in their first game of the year.

The Cambrian men, meanwhile, took out their frustration over a less-than-what-they-were-hoping for fall campaign with an 8-1 thrashing of Fleming as Josh Vivero and Siah Stone both drilled home a hat-trick.

Mateo Malheiro and Emanuel Folayan capped off the offensive outburst as Cambrian sits sixth (of nine) and has the chance to cast this placement in stone next weekend versus the Thunderwolves. On September 5th, the Shield opened their season with a 7-1 win over Lakehead Orillia, who trail the locals by two points but also have a game in hand.
