Rockhounds turn their attention to 2026
2025-08-15

The Sudbury U11 Rockhounds will have to chalk up this set of provincials to experience.

After keeping things close to the final buzzer in game one, the Rockhounds were tagged with their second and third losses of the tournament with scoreboards that most certainly did not do justice to their efforts.

There was nothing to complain about with the start of their three-game set in Whitby as the locals jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead over the Gloucester Griffins before their opponents rallied in the second and held on in the third for a 6-5 win.

Adam Bain and Justin Gouin buried two goals apiece in a losing cause, with Rudy Bazzard capping things off for the Sudbury side.

Facing the Kawatha Lakes Fury later that same day, the Rockhounds fell behind 3-0 in the first but managed to trade goals in the middle stanza, with Adam Bain pulling the trigger for coach Mike Wilson's troops.

Unfortunately, the Fury pulled away in the third, adding a four-spot en route to an 8-1 win.

Back at it the next day, Sudbury received first period goals from Noah Legault and Justin Gouin, dead even at 2-2 with the Midland Titans, heading into period two.

Again, the locals found it tough to stay step for step with their more experienced adversaries as the Titans matched their first period output in both the second and third, posting a 6-2 win.

The balance of the Sudbury roster features Benjamin Hepting, Blake Dumont, Hudson Lauzon, Jack Wilson, Mackenzie Thomson, Owen Kunto, Nwaabdasse Trudeau, Liam Timony, Noah Vallée, Taylin Johnson and Luna Bertrand-Thrush.
