Partnering with the Rayside-Balfour Minor Hockey Association (RBHMA), Black Lives Matter Sudbury will be sponsoring a pair of children next year for their introduction to hockey as part of the NHL/NHLPA First Shift program.

The goal of the initiative is to create more inclusive spaces and opportunities for Black youth in the community.

The program itself allows for six weeks of on-ice training sessions as well as full head to toe outfitting in Bauer equipment for a cost of just $299 per participant. BLM Sudbury is ready to absorb the cost for two Black children who are ready to lace 'em up and hit the ice.
