Heading to the OFSSA Girls Basketball Championships, an extremely young Lo-Ellen Park Knights’ team knew they were in tough at the “AAA” tournament in Brampton, looking to the event as a means of building some valuable experience for the years to come.
Seeded 15th in a field of 16 teams, the Knights lost their opening encounter to the St Thomas More Knights from Hamilton, 68-30. Aurora Circelli paced the Lo-Ellen offense with a 19-point effort, with Paige Dawson chipping in with six points of her own.
Game two would find the locals opposite the second seeded Maple Ridge Ravens (Barrie) as the GBSSA champs continued their trek to OFSAA “AAA” gold with a convincing 68-28 triumph.
On to the consolation round on day two, Lo-Ellen found opponents no less challenging, beaten 78-24 by the Assumption College School Lions, a squad that entered play as the #4 seed in the event.
