Catching up on Oktoberfest fun with the Junior Wolves
2024-11-16

For as much as the Sudbury U11 AA Jr Wolves dominated much of the competition at the Kitchener Oktoberfest Tournament late last month, a semi-final battle with East Enders Ticats from Toronto provided all of the drama they could ask for.

Comfortable victories over the Richmond Hill Jaguars (10-2), the West Hill Golden Hawks (6-1), the Centre Wellington Fusion (5-0) and the Stratford Warriors (6-3) likely had the local feeling pretty good about their play heading into semi-final action on Sunday.

But a Ticats team that posted a 2-0-2 record in pool play was ready for action, sitting dead even with the Jr Wolves (1-1) at the end of regulation, with no change to the scoreboard following ten minutes of 4 on 4 overtime hockey.

Still deadlocked with three shooters apiece in the books in the shootout, the Wolves capitalized on their fifth attempt, earning a trip to the finals where they blitzed the Kanata Blazers 6-0.

Joining tournament MVP Hudson Gray on the Sudbury roster were Sebastien Boyer, Arlo Angus, Nathan Arnold, Brodie Robichaud, Zack Zanatta, Hudson Yasko, Harrison Trebb, Jaxon Wicklander, Nico Brujic, Jaxson Andryechen, Jack Laporte-Alexander, Luke Pavacic, Bennet Gertz, Luca Apolloni, Alex Brujic and Huxley Leclair.
