Everyone was getting into the act when it came to Sudbury U18 "AAA" Wolves scoring last weekend.
An extremely well-distributed offensive arsenal played a big part in a "three wins in three nights" stretch as Sudbury improved to 6-2-0-1 (13 points), just behind the Soo U18 "AAA" Greyhounds (14 pts) and just ahead of the North Bay U18 "AAA" Trappers (12).
After exploding in a huge fashion with an 11-4 beatdown of the Soo Friday night, the U18 "AAA" Wolves kept right on rolling on Saturday, welcoming the Kapuskasing U18 "AAA" Flyers to town with a 6-1 contest.
Six different Sudbury players hit paydirt, including Noah Lafrance, Denver Mulligan, Drake Taylor, Mekhi Levesque, Khade Metatawabin and Brett Moxam.
"I'm normally a stay at home defenseman," admitted Levesque, after the match, recalling one of what is likely to be just a handful of snipes for the 16 year-old rookie with the team this year. "I stepped up in the middle because I had supporty there."
"One of my "D" partners passed it to me, so I shot it between the guy's legs and it hit the post and went in."
The Wolves are playing some of their best hockey at an opportune time, with the Big Nickel Tournament just over a week away.
"All of the scouts are up in the stands, so it's a time to shine," noted Levesque.
In his particular case, that means focusing on certain key elements of his game. "I have to read the ice and make good plays and finish my checks," he said. "By the end of the year, I want to be better with my skating and my edges - and just be quicker on the ice."
Sudbury looked like a very quick team in handing the Hounds their first loss of the year as Drake Taylor, Vinny Gilbert, Denver Mulligan and Khade Metatawabin also posted two-goal efforts.
Rounding out the scoring for the homeside were Russell Ranger, Madden Glavota and Nicho Labrecque while Gavin Killoran (2), Danny MacDonald and Dylan Rousselle replied in a losing cause.
The Wolves capped off their weekend with a 7-1 win over Kapuskasing on Sunday as Nicho Labrecque led the charge with a pair of tallies, with Denver Mullign, Brett Moxam, Grade Jalbert, Jameson Fabbro and Vinny Gilbert scoring once each.
William Fournier accounted for both Kapuskasing goals on the weekend.
