There might not be any recognizable names of returning players to the Sudbury U13 A Lady Wolves team (registered as "AA" one year ago), but this group of girls looks more than ready to start making sure their names will be known soon.
Kicking off the 2024-2025 campaign with a three game exhibition series in Sault Ste Marie, the Lady Wolves posted a record of 2-0-1, now preparing to face their arch rivals from North Bay in the upcoming weeks.
The Lady Wolves opened play with a 1-1 tie with the Thunder Bay Queens as Juliana Smith handled the scoring for the Sudbury squad.
She was joined on the scoresheet by several teammates in game two as the locals thumped the Oakland Jr Grizzlies 8-0, with Madden Poirier leading the way with a two-goal effort.
Along with Juliana Smith, others finding the back of the net for the winners included Théa Dupuis, Taylor Poirier, Zoe Gatien, Meredith Sonnenburg and Zoey Rietkoetter.
The SDGHA reps closed off the weekend in style, downing the Soo Jr Greyhounds 4-1 on goals from Jordyn White, Taylor Poirier, Ariella King and Madden Poirier.
The remainder of the Sudbury roster is comprised of Ava Wicklander, Olive Simon, Kailyn Inglis, Brielle Chamberland, Maelle Angus, Talia Gladu and Taylor Croskery.
Joing head coach Yves Poirier on the team staff are assistant coaches Dave Gatien, Brad White, trainers Jodi Aikola and Jen Santerre Smith and team manager Melissa Simon.
