Wolves hit the win column in pre-season play
2024-09-07

The veterans looked every bit the part of OHL (Ontario Hockey League) veterans Friday night at the Sudbury Arena.

With the likes of Kieron Walton (2G / 2A - 6th rd of 2024 NHL draft - Winnipeg Jets), Kocha Delic (G + 3A - 162 points in 168 OHL games to date), Alex Pharand (2G + A - 4th rd of 2023 NHL draft - Chicago Blackhawks) and Chase Coughlan (G + A - 137 OHL games played to date) leading the way, the Sudbury Wolves bounced the Barrie Colts 7-4 in pre-season action.

Newcomer Daks Klinkhammer (acquired from Flint Firebirds in a trade this summer) rounded out the Sudbury scoring while Mason Goodfellow, Evan Passmore, Michael Derbidge and Roenick Jodoin countered for the Colts.

Where the Wolves iced a roster that was basically without only Quentin Musty, Nathan Villeneuve and Nathan Krawchuk in terms of experienced OHL talent, Barrie opted to rest Zach Wigle, Tristan Bertucci, Riley Patterson, Tai York, Cole Beaudoin, Beau Jelsma, Kashawn Aitcheson, goaltender Sam Hillebrandt and highly touted Import Draft selection Emil Hemming for their Saturday night encounter with the Brampton Steelheads.

The Wolves started Finn Marshall (12/14 - saves; two goals against) between the pipes with Ben Rossi (10/12 - saves; two goals against) coming on in relief halfway through the contest.

Sudbury is back in action on Sunday (September 8th) facing the Peterborough Petes in the Lock City before closing out their exhibition campaign at home on (Friday) September 20th versus Soo Greyhounds.
