A win, a loss and a tie for U18 AA Lady Wolves
2024-09-02

With their team not expected to be an offensive juggernaut (who knows - perhaps they could surprise), the Sudbury U18 AA Lady Wolves were likely more than thankful that even their early season defensive acumen allowed them to remain in each and every contest as they enjoyed a three-game set as part of the Etobicoke Exhibition Series this past weekend.

The locals opened play by earning a 2-2 draw with the Brampton Canadettes, an expected top tier squad this year as Jillian Landry and Reese Williamson bulged the twine for Sudbury.

The Lady Wolves trimmed the Ottawa 67's 2-1 in game two later that day, with Joely Angus joining Jillian Landry on the scoresheet for the northern reps.

Despite taking two full periods to get untracked in the weekend finale, the U18 AA girls dropped their final encounter by a score of 2-1 to the Central York Panthers as a frantic third period rally fell just short.

Kynlee Cresswell netted a short-handed marker on an outstanding individual effort to help make this match-up interesting in the end.

Goaltenders Kate Bouchard (game 1) and Chloe Trudeau (games 2 & 3) both came up with some key saves to help ensure that a victory was within range every time the Sudbury girls stepped on the ice.

The team is right back on the road this coming weekend, participating in the Stoney Creek Showcase with round robin games against Greater Vancouver, Niagara Rapids, Rochester Youth Hockey and St Albert Slash all on the agenda.
