Averaging nearly fifty golfers at most of their tour events, the NJGT (North Eastern Junior Golf Tour) has witnessed a healthy rise in numbers this summer, most notably on the female side of the game.
With four of the five competitions hosted to date - Parry Sound remains to be played on July 31st - some of the top performers on the tour include Ayrton Longe (U19), Drake Robitaille (U17), Camden Poirier (U15), Rory Bardswich (U13), Lea Lemieux (U19) and Amy Smith (U17).
The youngsters are gearing up towards the NJGT 36-Hole Championship, hosted at the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club on the weekend of August 17th and 18th.
A smaller handful of the tour participants are leaving Wednesday for the Ontario Summer Games in London as the boys team of Aryton Longe (Elliot Lake), Drake Robitaille (North Bay), Noah Thorpe (Manitoulin) and the Sudbury trio of Carter Baron, Ryan Di Salle and Mackinly Sobush join the northern ladies team of Lea Lemieux and Elliott Boyles, from Sudbury, and Gore Bay golfer Amy Smith.
