A flood of new talent arrives for the Cyclones

The Sudbury Cyclones' trickle of 2024 commitments has just turned into a flood.

After welcoming relatively small groups of two (Michael Marcantognini/Jack Collins) and three (Stan Pankiewicz/Luke Harrop/Hayden Lloyd) over the course of the past two months, the local League 1 franchise unveiled a herd of eleven new players just over a week ago.

Following is a brief bio on the newcomers to the team:

Ethan Mendes (fullback) from Markham - member of Algoma Thunderbirds for past three years; also has five years experience with the Masters Futbol Academy

Jaden Timmins (centerback) from Manchester (U.K.) - spent time at youth academies with both Everton FC and Salford City - also played at Algoma in 2023

David Setters (fullback) from Muntinpala (Philipines) - spent time in his youth in England - represented his country with U23 team and also played at Algoma in 2023

Rohan Henry (defender) from Toronto - a product of Alliance United Youth Academy - played with Laurentian last fall, earning nine starts

Lucas Spirkoski (midfielder) from Ajax - three years of experience with Algoma Thunderbirds, appearing in 30 games (24 starts)

Brandon Moxam (midfielder) from Sudbury - no stranger to local soccer scene - graduate of St Benedict CSS with playing experience at both Cambrian and Laurentian - spent some time playing professionally in Spain

Cedric Devos (midfielder) from Ottawa - spent the last three years with Nipissing Lakers - 32 appearances; 29 starts

Duovoy Bromfield (attacker) from Calgary - born and raised in Jamaica - moved to Canada and signed on with Algoma University - 22 starts in three years

Timi Aliu (attacker) from Brampton - member of the Laurentian Voyageurs for past three years - 32 appearances - seven goals and was named as OUA East Division second team all-star in 2023-2024

Josh Bondoc (keeper) from Toronto - youth soccer included time with Vaughan SC and the Athlete Institute FC - two years with Algoma - named team Rookie of the Year in 2022- 11 starts last year

Luca Cidade (keeper) from Toronto - youth career with York Jets - made 13 appearances in last two years at L.U. after stops with York University and Nipissing

The Cyclones will welcome Alliance United to Sudbury on Saturday May 4th for a 7:00 p.m. contest at the James Jerome Sports Compplex.
