It's still very early in the 2023-2024 season, but signs to date point to the Sudbury Lady Wolves potentially enjoying success at a "AA" level that would be unprecented - in terms of success across multiple divisions - in the history of the Sudbury District Girls Hockey Association.

Just a month or so after the U15 AA Lady Wolves proved that they will be a force to contend with in their bracket, the Sudbury U13 AA Lady Wolves have followed up with a tournament showing that cannot help but to gather attention across the province.

In posting a 6-0 record and capturing Pink the Rink XII, hosted by the Etobicoke Dolphins, the locals outscored their opponents 23-4. At least as impressive was the fact that the tournament included a dozen teams, not the least of which were traditional powerhouses such as the London Devilettes, Mississauga Hurricanes and Stoney Creek Sabres.

That, apparently, mattered very little to this very talented local team under the guidance of head coach Scott Rienguette.

The Lady Wolves bookended the event with victories over the Devilettes, kicking things off with a 4-2 win as Alexie Miller scored twice, with Brooklyn Bertrand and Ella Sabourin adding solo markers.

Game two would mark the start of three straight shutouts for netminder Kloe Rienguette as the Lady Wolves blanked Mississauga 4-0, with Sabourin accounting for half of that offensive production.

Joining the star forward that coach Rienguette called "possibly the best player her age in the province" were Emma Plante and Brooklyn Bertrand.

Game three would see puckstopper Abby Ouimet follow in the footsteps of her teammate, stopping everything that came her way in a 2-0 win over the Kanata Rangers, with Sabourin and Miller hitting the mark for Sudbury.

Quarter-final action wasn't about to slow down the northern girls who blitzed the Brampton Canadettes 5-0 on the strength of tallies from Alysssa Bryant, with two, as well as Alexie Miller, Brooklyn Bertrand and Reese Doherty.

Ella Sabourin was flying in the semis, recording the hat trick as the Lady Wolves doubled Mississauga 4-2, with Nellie Brunette also breaking through in the goal scoring department.

The hopes for a competitive final dissipated gradually as Sudbury pulled away from London by a final count of 4-0. Rienguette was stellar between the pipes, yet again, with Sabourin (two goals) and Ally Hebert and Alexie Miller (one goal each) providing plenty of support offensively.

Rounding out the 2023-2024 Sudbury U13 AA Lady Wolves' roster are Addison Bronicheski, Julia D'Angelo, Davie Dale, Alexa Dubreuil, Brooklyn Harris, Reese Morris and Penelope Ouimet.

The team staff features head coach Scott Rienguette, assistant coaches Jamie Brunette, Emma Chamberland and Rebecca Sabourin, trainer Kristen Dubreuil, assistant trainer Shannon Dow and manager Silvana D'angelo.
