The St Benedict Bears junior boys football team made it back to back lopsided victories, nearing the 100-point plateau in the process with a 36-7 victory over the Lasalle Lancers Thursday afternoon.
Lukas Coufal reached the end zone three different times, with teammates Dylan Nelson, Samuel Julius and Mateo Bedoya also doing so once each and the latter (Bedoya) adding four converts to the mix as well.
Deran Cooper (touchdown) and Colton Cooke (point after) countered for Lasalle, who saw their record evened back to the .500 mark after slipping past Lively Hawks 21-19 one week earlier.
The Hawks rebounded with a close win of their own Thursday evening as Sladen Gajdemski rambled in from three yards out in the final minute of play, lifting Lively to a 20-14 victory over the St Charles College Cardinals.
Hudsyn Young (6 yd run) and Riley Kirwan (20 yd run) accounted for the earlier majors for LDSS, with Cameron MacIntosh drilling the PAT through the posts on two of his three attempts.
David Idehen accounted for both of the St Charles six-point scores, hauling in a 23 yard pass from QB Hayden Walsh and then breaking loose for a 52 yard TD run in the third quarter, with Alessandro Moretta picking up a pair of converts for SCC.
The juniors are back in action with another two-game set this coming Thursday (October 5th), with St Charles taking on Lasalle at 2:30 p.m. followed by the St Benedict/Lively matchup at 5:00 p.m. - all at the James Jerome Sports Complex.
