Badminton is thriving at Ecole Ste-Marie in Azilda and at Lo-Ellen Park Intermediate School in the south end. At least that seems to be a fair statement given the results at the recent St Anne Angels Intermediate Badminton Tournament hosted by Francois Viau at St Benedict Catholic Secondary School.
Representatives of either Ste-Marie or Lo-Ellen swept all five of the divisional titles, with only one girls doubles team from Bishop Alexander Carter in Hanmer breaking up the monopoly of the two badminton juggernauts in the podium placements at the event.
Both individual crowns were awarded to Ste-Marie (Mia Beites - girls; Jack Whitton - boys) while doubles play was the domain of the Knights as Luna Zelonko/Lia Gallo (Girls Doubles), Eric Huang/Ryan Corrigan (Boys Doubles) and Zayda Paris/Ryan Corrigan (Mixed Doubles) showed the way in their respective categories.
