The Future Cubs Development Camp is back for year two and it all kicks off next week at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.
The six week spring hockey program for AAA-caliber players sees prospects on the ice three times a week, with high-tempo practice sessions planned for Tuesdays and Wednesdays and scrimmages closing out the week every Thursday.
The camp also features off-ice testing this year with REPerformance, providing participants with a benchmark for fitness and strength improvement. The REPerformance group will also be equipping the young hockey talents with sport-specific dryland wokout plans.
"We began this camp three years ago, during the pandemic, to provide some player development for local prospects and allow Cubs coaching staff the opportunity to identify future prospects," said Cubs managing director Blaine Smith.
"The key to our camp is inviting some guest coaches that can bring OHL and NHL experience to the sessions. We are grateful to all of the coaching friends of the Cubs who are willing and eager to assist us with this unique offering to Greater Sudbury prospects."
Among the coaches and guest coaches on hand are the likes of Derek MacKenzie, Mike Foligno, Stan Butler, Craig Duncanson, Darryl Moxam, Dave Clancy, Jason Stos, Tark Bertrand, Kerry MacLennan, Matty Mayhew and Eric Navarro.
There are a limited number of spots still available, as follows: 2007-born forwards and defenceman; 2008-born defencemen - four spots. Anyone interested is asked to contact Brittany at britt@ntaaa.ca or by phone at 705-524-8375 ext 226.
