U15 C Lady Wolves stay hotter than the Inferno
2023-02-07

The field was only three teams for the Sudbury U15 C Lady Wolves, heading south for the 43rd Annual Orangeville Tigers Sweetheart Tournament a few weeks back - but by the time the locals were battling in their final two games of the weekend, they could not have asked for better competition.

With a fourth registered entry pulling out at the last minute, the Sudbury girls opened play against the Lambeth Lancers, posting a 7-0 win as Jordyn Hampel paced the attack with a pair of goals.

The remaining markers came courtesy of Amanda Syncox, Serena Harris, Kassandra Reasbeck, Charmaine Webkamigad and Naomi Gobeil as goaltender Mia Moreau recorded her first of three straight shutouts.

It was a little closer in game two as Aaliyah Osawamick-Scarlett scored twice, leading the Lady Wolves past the tougher West Oxford Inferno by a final score of 4-0. Kassandra Reasbeck and Jordyn Hampel also found the back of the net for the northern squad.

Competing in a double round robin format, Sudbury stopped Lambeth 3-0 in their second meeting (goals by Jordyn Hampel-2; Aaliyah Osawamick-Scarlett) and edged West Oxford 2-1 on tallies from Chloe Ball and Amanda Syncox, closing out qualifying play with a record of 4-0-0.

No surprise that the championship affair would pit the Lady Wolves opposite the Inferno as the SDGHA representatives mirrored their final round robin encounter, slipping past West Oxford 2-1 on strikes from Amanda Syncox and Charmaine Webkamigad.

Competing against other U15 B/C/DS teams in a skills competition, the local crew of Mia Moreau, shooter Charmaine Webkamigad and the relay team of Jordyn Hampel, Alexandra Lawrence, Leah Windover and Aaliyah Osawamick-Scarlett also picked up top prize there as well.

"We had a strong offensive and defensive effort, right across the team, and it paid off with a 2-1 victory in the gold medal game," noted head coach Ryan Lawrence. "These girls left it all on the ice. The entire coaching staff was incredibly proud of their effort."

The remainder of the U15 C Lady Wolves lineup is made up of Ava Herbert and Marin Wilson, with Nevaeh Koostachin unavailable for the weekend of covered via the call-up of Amanda Syncox.

Joining head coach Lawrence on the team staff are assistant coaches Mike Reasbeck and Darren Wilson, trainer Lisa Desgagne-Moreau, assistant trainers Reem Fattouh and Sylvain Moreau and team manager Tracy Windover.
