Sudbury's Most Complete Local Sports Coverage

For the week ending December 12, 2004

Danielle Rancourt is a Grade 8 student at Felix-Ricard and was recently named as the Female MVP of the French Elementary Volleyball League that included twelve local teams. In addition to her volleyball prowess, Danielle has also been a member of the Copper Cliff Redmen organization for the past four years, playing in the Nickel District Major Peewee division this year.

This athletic twelve year-old has been playing volleyball for the past three years, since first participating as a member of St Dominique in Grade 6. “I like the fact that it’s a team game and this year, I really worked on my overhand serve” says Rancourt. While she is enjoying some success at volleyball, she readily acknowledges that hockey and soccer are her first two passions.

“I’m a defenseman and probably more of a playmaker” notes Rancourt, who recently joined the Sudbury Lady Wolves Peewee team at a tournament in Peterborough. She is planning on attending College Notre-Dame in the fall of 2005 and is looking forward to joining the very active Alouettes’ sports program.
