Sudbury's Most Complete Local Sports Coverage

For the week ending January 2, 2005

Trina Czerkas is a thirteen-year old Grade 8 student at Valleyview Public School in Val Caron who has been a mainstay in local sporting circles for as long as she can remember. This talented youngster recently led her school's volleyball team to a clean sweep of the Rainbow Elementary City Volleyball championships.

In addition to volleyball, Trina has participated in basketball, softball, soccer and swimming over the years, although she's very keen on volleyball, which she has played for the past three years. "I've tried pretty much everything over the years" said Czerkas, who acknowledges that power hitting is probably the strength of her volleyball game.

Coming from a naturally athletic family (older brother Brody plays with the Onaping Falls Huskies and is also an accomplished soccer player), Trina is looking to attend Confederation Secondary in the fall of 2005. "I know they have a good volleyball program - I'm looking forward to being a part of it" admitted Czerkas. And there's a pretty good chance that the Chargers are very much looking forward to welcoming this talented athlete to the fold.
