With 26 young golfers spread across five divisions, there were a couple of battles that would come right down to the wire as the North Eastern Junior Golf Tour kicked off play last weekend at Settler's Ghost Golf Club in Barrie.

Ethan Mulligan (U19 boys) and Hudson Kelahear (U13 boys/girls) both carved out two stroke victories, edging out Johnny Svalina and Jackson Feggi respectively.

Mulligan (75) and Svalina (77) were among a group of six golfers in the U19 boys bracket all bunched within eight strokes, joined by the likes of Adam Mutuchky (78), Keean Burman (79), Vince Palladino (82) and Joseph Colasimone (83).

Kelahear (93) and Feggi (95), by contrast, enjoyed a bit more separation, as Ally Ruston garnered both third place overall (U13 boys/girls) and bragging rights among the young ladies, carding a round of 106.

In the largest assembly of the day (U15 girls), Kylie Ruston (85), Lea Lemieux (91) and Sophia Crawford-Bald (94) would show the way, while Bryden Dilley (84) and Mackenzie Czapla (90) provided a solid one-two punch at the top of the leaderboard in the U19 girls division.

Capping this off, claiming the fifth and final one hundred point total in the "Order of Merit" count up for grabs was Issac Larmand (U15 boys) with a round of 87.

The golfers will now switch their focus further north, as the second event on the tour is set to tee-off on (Tuesday) June 16th at Timberwolf Golf Club in Sudbury.
