The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) is pleased to announce the upcoming NOHA Officiating Development Webinar Series, a chance to hear directly from some of the most influential officials ever to come out of northern Ontario.
The Series will begin in May and will feature four guest speakers over four weeks, as follows:
NOHA alumni T.J. Luxmore - born in Timmins but raised in part in Waterloo, Luxmore would make his NHL debut as a referee in 2013 and was promoted to full-time status in 2015. He will be discussing the relationship between coach and official on Tuesday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m.
Copper Cliff native David Brisebois - starting his career as an NHL linesman in 1999, Brisebois has now celebrated two decades of work with the league, including appearing in the playoffs for the first time in 2010, and working the Stadium Series game in Santa Clara (California) in 2015.
Brisebois will be presenting on the topic of "The Role of the Linesman - Not as simple as you Think" on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m.
North Bay native and Laurentian University graduate Stephen Walkom - the current NHL Vice-President and Director of Officiating, a role that he also held from 2005 to 2009, Walkom officiated more than 600 regular season games, 84 Stanley Cup playoff games, the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, 2004 World Cup of Hockey, and two Stanley Cup Finals.
On Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 p.m. Walkom will present "Path to Officiating Success and Integrity, Pride and Image".
Coniston native Conrad Hache - an NHL official from 1994 to 2001, Hache has served as the OHL Director of Officiating since 2007, Hache will close out the webinar series on Tuesday, May 26th, with a yet to be determined topic.
Each of the speakers will follow their presentation with a Q & A session. Individual sessions are priced at $5.65/per person, with participants also able to pre-register for all four sessions for $16.95 (prices include HST).
Registration will close at 11:45 p.m., the night before each session and the package deal will be available until Monday, May 4th at 11:45 p.m.
