Walden cyclists enjoy one-two finish in Woodnewton
2016-05-03

Some familiar faces, and a newcomer to the Walden Mountain Bike Club’s WolfPak Racing/Inception Cyclery Team, were front and center as the locals kicked off the 2016 season at Ontario Cup #1 in Woodnewton.

Paul Guenette put down a blazing ride, clocking a time of 1:35:27, earning top spot in the Senior Expert 30-39 Male division as the 2016 Scott Ontario Racing Cup XC Racing circuit got rolling.

Teammate Alex Anstice slid into second place with a time of 1:36:35, as the WMBC crew extended a streak dating back to 2010. The competitive arm of the local mountain bike club has placed at least one member of the podium in each and every Ontario Cup event they have entered since the team's inception some six years ago.

Suiting up with WMBC for the first time, Dave Kalver placed 12th in the Senior Elite 19+ classification, crossing the finish line 1:56:59 from the start of the race, with Eddie Skala slotted into 19th place in a time of 2:03.52.

The team is back in action on the weekend of May 15th, heading to Highlands Nordic in Duntroon for Ontario Cup #2.
