Locals crack Winter Games ringette roster
2011-05-26

The event might still be almost a year away, but teams are already being assembled for the 2012 Ontario Winter Games being held in Collingwood next March.

Six Sudbury players have been named to the Northeast Regional U19 Belle "AAA" Ringette team, selected from a pool of 33 hopefuls at a training camp held recently in Sault Ste Marie.

Sarah Ciammaichella, Asha Gosselin, JamieLyn Larose, Désirée Leclair, Cassidy McAuliffe and Karine Caron successfully cracked the roster, with Gosselin and Leclair also part of the 2010 Games as well.

The U19 Belle AAA team will compete in three Challenge Cups tournaments during the course of the 2011-2012 season, ideally peaking in time for the Ontario Winter Games.

The "AAA" program runs every second season, coinciding with the Games. The team will formally start their training schedule, taking part in a conditioning camp scheduled for June 11th and 12th in Sault Ste Marie.
