Silver Stick journey ends for four local teams

The Sudbury and area contingent of Silver Stick winners are down to their final entry as the International Finals continue through the month of January. Only the Valley East Novice Rebels, who leave for St Claire Shores (Michigan) next weekend for the Novice A tournament, remain alive after the bulk of championship play was completed this weekend. Following is a team by team summary of the Silver Stick results for local entries:

Copper Cliff Redmen - Major Bantam AA

When: January 11th-14th, 2007
Where: Port Huron, Michigan

Game # 1 - lost to Rochester Rattlers 4-2
Game # 2 - lost to Sarnia Jr Sting 5-3
Game # 3 - lost to Chesterfield Falcons 9-0

Walden Red Devils - Major Atom A

When: January 19th-21st, 2007
Where: Sarnia, Ontario

Game # 1 - lost to Greensboro, North Carolina 5-0
Game # 2 - lost to the Huskies 5-4
Game # 3 - lost to Port Huron 7-5

Greensboro has advanced to the final and will face the San Jose Jr Sharks for the Silver Stick championship

Valley East Rebels - Major Midget A

When: January 19th-21st, 2007
Where: Sarnia, Ontario

Game # 1 - lost to Tri-Valley Blue Devils 4-1
Game # 2 - defeated Chicago Flames 6-3
Game # 3 - lost to Team Pepsi 6-0

Tri-Valley edged Team Pepsi 4-3 in semi-final action and will meet Woodstock for the Silver Stick championship

Rayside-Balfour Tigers - Minor Bantam A

When: January 18th-21st, 2007
Where: Newmarket, Ontario

Game # 1 - lost to Woodstock 4-3
Game # 2 - tied Newmarket 2-2
Game # 3 - lost to Aurora 5-4

Both Aurora and Woodstock lost in semi-final play as Dallas and Stouffville will meet for the Silver Stick championship
