The rise in the relays is for real when it comes to the Laurentian Voyageurs Indoor Track & Field program these days.
With head coach Darren Jermyn focused on building up greater and greater depth within the team, post-Covid, the L.U. crew continues to shine in the four-person events at meets across the province this winter.
Add two more sets of medals to the haul last weekend at the York University Open in Toronto.
The women's foursome of Naomi Palmer, Maeva Sullivan, Shelley Hladin and Alissa Diavolitsis posted a season best time of 1:51.81 in the 4 X 200m relay, earning silver for their efforts.
Just one placement back, in exactly the same event were the Laurentian men's team of Skyler Savage-Perreault, Josh Kim, Abdul Abiodun and Tristan Routhier, third place finishers with a clocking of 1:35.48.
From an individual standpoint, local product and third year nursing major Brandon Raney led the charge, placing fourth in the 600m distance (1:23.39), with Shelley Hladin leading the women's team with a 5th place showing in the triple jump (10.98 metres).

The Voyageurs will now fine tune things in anticipation of the 2025 OUA Indoor Track & Field Championships slated to take place on February 21st and 22nd in Windsor.
